Some resin-bound driveway defects can be repaired, but the correct repair depends on the cause. A damaged wearing surface is a different problem from movement in the concrete, tarmac, sub-base or ground underneath.
What Resin Problems Can Be Repaired?
Local impact damage, small isolated defects or a limited failed area may sometimes be cut out and reinstated. The repaired area can remain visible because aggregate batches and weathering may differ from the original surface.
Cracks Need a Cause, Not Just a Cover
If a crack is being caused by movement underneath, simply filling or covering the visible line may not provide a lasting solution. The supporting construction should be assessed before deciding whether a local repair, larger reinstatement or full replacement is appropriate.
What About Sinking or Depressions?
Local sinking can indicate movement or loss of support below the resin. The affected construction may need to be opened up and rebuilt rather than treating only the top layer.
Loose Stone and Surface Breakdown
Loose aggregate can have several causes, including installation, materials, contamination or damage. The extent of the affected area should be established before selecting a repair.
Can a Patch Be Invisible?
An exact colour match cannot always be guaranteed. Existing resin changes through use and exposure, and a new aggregate batch may not look identical. A neat repair is possible in suitable circumstances, but customers should be realistic about visual blending.
